The band was formed by Dave Egerton in 1983 initially as a youth band fusing Dave’s brass band background with woodwinds and was known then by the name that is still it’s official title – The Altrincham Concert Band.
An accomplished musician in his own right Dave built the band around his own arrangements and from 1983 to 2003 the band grew in popularity, playing many concerts in The North West and beyond whist attracting high calibre amateur musicians who enjoyed playing under Dave’s direction.
In 2003 the band was hit by the sudden passing of Dave and with that the future of the band was in serious doubt. With the blessing of the Egerton family the band’s management team elected to play one further concert in June 2003 as a tribute to Dave and Tim Ashcroft stepped in to direct the band on that gig.
One gig has subsequently become well over 150 gigs and the band has continued to grow and develop under a committed management team led by Graham Truffet, with Tim Ashcroft as Musical Director, and Eileen Egerton giving her unstinting support as our patron.
